In The Beginning...

The first chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi® Fraternity Incorporated in the Akron Area was the Gamma Tau chapter, which received its charter on May 15, 1949. 
The Sponsor members were: Dr. E.T. Sharp, Melvin Farris, Howard Fort, Esq., Paul Meade, and Eugene Robinson.
The Charter members were from two schools. The first is Kent State University, with the members listed as: Louis Bragg, Henry Clark, William Cox, Amos Dunlap, William Flack, William Tolliver, and William Williams. 
The second, The University of Akron, with charter members listed as: John Banks, George Miller, Robert Moore, Gene Scruggs, and Clarence Walker.
